BLACK LOTUS RETREAT
at Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell
July 13 - 19, 2025
Black Lotus is a new form of vinyasa yoga designed to be practiced in the Mysore style. Based on traditional Hatha principles, the system offers six deep and playful sequences to open the inner channels of the body, and encourage the creative sap to flow. The system is potent, but highly adaptable. Each sequence has three "shades" or variants, so you can scale the practice to make it your own.
In this retreat, you will learn how the Black Lotus system works, how to practice the First and Second Series, and how to advance further into other series as your practice evolves. You will also learn the energetic principles behind Black Lotus Yoga. You will learn to work consciously with these principles, and to embody their understanding of the body and mind.
No prior experience with Black Lotus Yoga is necessary, but some familiarity with vinyasa yoga, and especially with the Mysore style of practice, is highly recommended. There is an abundance of passion and intelligence here, in the emergence of Black Lotus Yoga, and you are invited to be part of the blossoming.
If you are intrigued, and want to know more about Black Lotus Yoga, you can see a video of the First Series of the Black Lotus system here.
program
This retreat involves six days of Mysore-style asana practice, together with a rich series of workshops lovingly designed to give you an enriching introduction to Black Lotus. The workshops will explore such subjects as postural alignment, internal breath, bandha, mudra, energetic balance, and of course, the philosophy and mythology of Hatha Yoga.
Expect a careful balance of practice, somatic exploration, practical instruction and inspiring philosophy—along with ample time to wander in the high mountains and settle more deeply into the experience. Expect to leave this retreat with a wider opening in your heart, and a yoga practice that has renewed depth and potency.
schedule
Our mornings begin with Mysore-style asana practice, from 7am to 9am, followed by brunch at 9:30. From 11 to 1pm, we have an afternoon workshop. We leave early afternoons open for exploring our breathtaking surroundings, and we gather again at 5pm for pranayama and chanting.
Please note that our asana practices will be Mysore style. That is, they will be assisted but self-directed, rather than guided. Ashtanga and Black Lotus will be the predominating styles, but those who practice related forms of vinyasa yoga are welcome to join.
